1 ) Jersey Boat Show

Festival Month - May

The annual Jersey Boat Show – an important fixture in the island’s calendar for over a decade – proudly claims to be the largest free-entry event in the Channel Islands, regularly welcoming more than 30,000 visitors across the early May Bank Holiday weekend. As well as all the usual fun you would expect from an event of this size (including numerous stalls selling local food and drink, and top live music performances), the main reason so many people flock to the Jersey Boat Show every year is to step on board a fascinating range of vessels, both large and small. From luxury yachts to fully operational Navy ships, this brilliant show offers attendees the rare opportunity to explore some of the world’s latest and most technologically advanced watercraft in the glamorous setting of Jersey’s capital, St. Helier.

2 ) Liberation International Music Festival

Festival Month - May

Any fans of classical music will want to make sure they time their visit to Jersey to coincide with the excellent Liberation International Music Festival. First held in 2009, the premise of this event gives it a very different feel to its contemporaries; based on the theme of the island regaining its freedom after being occupied for most of the Second World War, the festival’s performances focus on both this difficult period in Jersey’s history and the power of music to emotionally liberate its listeners.

3 ) Jersey International Motoring Festival

Festival Month - June

The winding roads and idyllic scenery of Jersey make it the ideal venue for hosting a classic car event and, fortunately, the Jersey International Motoring Festival has everything a true enthusiast would hope to find. This annual gathering of local and visiting auto fans is, quite simply, a treasure trove for anyone with even a passing interest in vehicles. There is far too much happening across the four days for us to list it all, but you won’t want to miss the demonstration run of a 1993 Benetton Formula One car – currently scheduled for the evening of Friday 31 May – whilst an island tour encourages owners of classic and vintage cars to get involved and take their own models for a spin (the planned route will go past many landmarks and will, of course, include refreshment stops!).
